The arrival of computers and the internet has considerably transformed the world today. Indeed, the way we live and work has changed very rapidly thanks to new technologies. Our topic today is about one of the most exciting developments in recent years, which is the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). These technologies are serving many fields and recruitment is no exception.

In this article, we will explore how ChatGPT will transform 5 activities related to Recruiting. But first, let's start by defining this new and useful tool.

What is Chat GPT?

ChatGPT is not a robot, it is a conversation tool using artificial intelligence (AI) and developed by OpenAI, a company specialized in this field. It is based on the GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) architecture and has been trained on a colossal amount of knowledge coming from the Internet. It is thanks to this that it can frequently generate coherent and relevant answers to a wide range of queries.

How will ChatGPT revolutionize recruitment?

Let's set the context, recruitment is a complex process through its various stages. It requires a lot of time and resources. If first, companies have to attract the right candidates, they must then evaluate them in order to select the best one for the right position. This is often a time-consuming and costly process, especially for large companies with many positions to fill. That's why it's important to optimize your time and that's where ChatGPT comes in: to make you more efficient thanks to its very high productivity potential.

1 - A well of information to exploit

A question about a skill? A diploma? A school? A language? Where to post your ad? With the multiplication of websites, it is now very easy to get lost on the web before getting a suitable answer.

Thanks to the centralization of information and the quick and precise answers, ChatGPT can solve this problem. Indeed, recruiters will be able to directly query ChatGPT to obtain all the necessary information. The main issue is the formulation of the question so that the AI can answer accurately.

Optimize your time by getting a quick response

2 - Writing assistance

Writing the ad is a key step in the recruitment process. It must be original, precise, pleasant... ChatGPT by its design is a writing tool completely adapted to this use. You just have to ask for an adapted job offer by specifying the company's sector, the position, the place and the salary. Then, in a single message, a large part of the work will have been done.

Our advice: the tool should be used as a writing aid. We do not recommend using a ChatGPT-generated job offer without editing (especially the company presentation paragraph).

3 - Making summaries (resume or interview note)

To help you in your selection of candidates, it is necessary to analyze the resumes. This process can be long and tedious depending on the documents received. In addition, it is not necessarily practical to go looking for a resume if there is information to verify. That's why many recruiters create resume summaries to get a more direct feedback.

It just so happens that ChatGPT is able to create one. In fact, all you have to do is request a summary of the information and then insert a copy/paste of the content of the resume into the tool. With these few words, it will generate a few paragraphs summarizing all the information.

It is a much simpler and faster process

Similarly, during interviews, recruiters are led to take notes on candidates. These notes are usually transformed into a summary to facilitate rereading and comprehension. As with resumes, ChatGPT saves valuable time by providing a structured summary of your notes. This is of real interest to recruiters who are used to sending summaries of resumes or notes on candidates, particularly for the placement of consultants or profile hunting, for example.

4 - Facilitate feedback to unsuccessful candidates

In an ideal world, all candidates would receive personalized feedback following an application.

Unfortunately this is still not the case. Indeed, a good number of candidates do not receive any feedback following a rejection (or an automatic response template) and for many reasons: it is never pleasant to send a negative feedback to a candidate, lack of time, etc. By sharing your notes with ChatGPT, the tool will be able to provide you with quality and personalized feedback. By coupling this practice with an email automation tool you could save precious time. As a result, the candidate experience would be improved and so would your employer brand.

Our advice: provide ChatGPT with as much detail as possible about the rejection of the application so that the feedback to the candidate is as specific as possible. There is no need to focus on the wording, as this is where the tool will save you time.

5 - On the candidate side

If ChatGPT transforms recruitment for recruiters and their companies, this is also the case for candidates. As mentioned above, the candidate experience will evolve thanks to more regular and concrete interactions.

But if a recruiter uses ChatGPT to write job offers, a candidate can use it on his side to build a resume corresponding to the position in question, of course in a textual way only, the tool not yet carrying out the formatting. The same is obviously true for the motivation letter.

The icing on the cake to prepare for an interview: get yourself in condition by presenting a precise context to the AI to get an overview of the questions likely to be asked in an interview.

Bonus: two other potential uses in the future

Chatbot

A candidate may have questions about a company and its job offer. However, they do not necessarily want to wait for an interview to get their answers. Therefore, a chatbot based on GPT could be set up. The chatbot would be programmed to answer questions quickly and automatically.

Moreover, the war for talent is raging, it is necessary to stand out, the tool could then be able to directly present the company and its values to candidates. All this could only improve the employer brand by highlighting a company culture that is up to date.

Recruitment and screening of candidates:

It is conceivable that Chat GPT will be able to pre-screen candidates in the near or distant future. Indeed, the tool would ask questions about the experience and skills of each candidate. Then, the candidates' answers would be analyzed to determine if they truly meet the criteria of the job offer. A good configuration upstream would then be essential.

The limitations of Chat GPT

Chat GPT is certainly very powerful, but it does have some limitations that you should be aware of as a recruiter. Although the majority of the texts it produces are of high quality, it still has a regular problem: the language used, which can quickly seem unnatural and lack syntax.

Moreover, while ChatGPT is constantly improving, it is still a machine without human thinking and awareness.

It is for this very fact that it is necessary not to neglect human interaction in the recruitment process. Language is one thing but understanding is another. Human interaction is essential to establish a relationship of trust between the company and the candidate. Interviews allow candidates to ask questions, to understand the company's values and culture.

AI is not yet ready to replace a human brain

As far as the evaluation of candidates is concerned, while it is possible to imagine that the tool is relevant for evaluating the technical skills of a candidate: quality of computer code, writing skills in different languages, etc. Soft skills such as stress management or empathy can never be evaluated by such a solution.

Assessment is clearly a safer way to test and evaluate your candidates. This is exactly what Yuzu offers by revealing the soft skills of your candidates in immersive situations developed with the latest video game technologies. Moreover, it is a significant advantage to reinforce your candidate experience and thus your attractiveness.

How to use ChatGPT?

It is not difficult to use ChatGPT, the main difficulty lies in the correct formulation of the information transmitted. To go on the site, it is not necessary to search on google, just click here and register. After that, you just have to write a question so that it proposes you an answer. You should not hesitate to perform different tests on the same request to obtain more conclusive results. That's why a lot of people are constantly testing the tool to understand how to get the best results.

Conclusion

The GPT chat revolution is already underway. The tool is amazing and its potential for recruitment is enormous. Two elements in particular stand out in our study: time savings and the "coaching" function.

Indeed, the main advantage of using ChatGPT seems to be the gain in productivity and time. Whether it is for creative tasks such as writing a job offer or for more procedural steps such as the non-selection feedback sent to candidates.

The other major recommendation of our article is its use. ChatGPT should always be considered as a support tool, it is not intended to replace recruiters, far from it, and should always be complemented by human intelligence.

The time saved by the tool's capabilities must not in any way diminish the human dimension of a recruitment.

To date, we are still in the early stages of its use, and it is clear that the future will hold surprises for us in terms of learning how to use Artificial Intelligence in recruitment.
